Isparta University of Applied Sciences (ISUBÜ) – Accessible Education for Students with Disabilities

Isparta University of Applied Sciences (ISUBÜ) has implemented a range of initiatives aimed at removing barriers to education for students with disabilities. In this context, the ISUBÜ Office for Students with Disabilities has been established. The Office operates to ensure the full and equal participation of students with special needs in all academic and social aspects of university life.

The Office works to enhance accessibility in physical, academic, and social environments, encouraging the active involvement of students with disabilities in university life. Furthermore, its efforts are aligned with the "Accessible University" goals set forth by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in Türkiye.

Through the “Regulation on the Working Principles and Procedures of the ISUBÜ Office for Students with Disabilities,” the university aims to:

  • Identify the administrative, physical, housing, academic, and social needs of students with disabilities,

  • Develop and implement solutions to meet these needs,

  • Plan, execute, improve, and evaluate activities and services aimed at supporting accessibility and inclusion.

In addition, ISUBÜ has issued the “Directive on Education, Teaching, and Examination Practices for Students with Disabilities,” which seeks to eliminate the challenges that students with disabilities may face during courses and examinations across associate, undergraduate, and graduate programs. The directive is designed to promote equal opportunities in education and to positively contribute to the academic success of students with disabilities.

The Office for Students with Disabilities also organizes various projects and activities to support the educational journeys of individuals with special needs. Among these is the TÜBİTAK 4008 Program—a national initiative supporting inclusive societal practices for individuals with disabilities. The Office also hosts student meet-ups, orientation programs, and awareness seminars to assist students in adapting to university life and fostering a sense of community.

To ensure physical accessibility, faculty buildings are equipped with ramps, elevators, and other necessary facilities to guarantee that students with disabilities can fully benefit from the university’s infrastructure. All physical arrangements are regularly evaluated and updated based on student needs and requests, with the goal of providing equal conditions for all students.
