As previously mentioned, the undergraduate program offers a holistic educational process supported not only by theoretical courses but also by compulsory internships and Vocational Training in Business. In this context, detailed information regarding the program's compulsory internship practices and Vocational Training in Business processes is provided below.
Students in the International Trade and Business Undergraduate Program are required to complete a compulsory internship of at least 20 working days, not only to complement their theoretical and applied courses but also to familiarize themselves with the sector, adapt to professional life, and develop their professional knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors. Through this practice, students have the opportunity to apply the theoretical and practical knowledge gained during their education in a real work environment.
Internship practices are conducted within the scope of the Isparta University of Applied Sciences Associate and Undergraduate Degree Internship Directive. The purpose of this directive is to enhance students' professional competencies, familiarize them with the business world, enable them to gain experience, and reinforce their learned knowledge by participating in production and service environments.
To ensure the proper execution of the internship process, each program has an Internship Committee. This committee convenes at the beginning of each internship period to make necessary preparations, evaluate student applications, and oversee the internship process in accordance with the directive's provisions. The committee's decisions are made by a majority vote. Additionally, Supervising Instructors are assigned to be responsible for at least five students each during the internship period. These instructors are responsible for guiding students, ensuring coordination between the business and the university, and participating in the assessment and evaluation processes of the internship.
The duration of the internship is determined upon the recommendation of the relevant department board and with the approval of the faculty/school board, provided it is not less than 20 working days. Furthermore, it is mandatory to assign ECTS credits for compulsory internships. These credits are included in the respective program's curriculum and count towards the total credits required for graduation. Additionally, the "Compulsory Internship Application Guidebook," published by the university to guide students, can be accessed on the website of the Department of Student Affairs.
Furthermore, within the new curriculum, the "Vocational Training in Business" course, implemented in the 8th semester, aims to enable students to transform their theoretical knowledge into practical application in the business world. This course is designed in accordance with the applied education model of Isparta University of Applied Sciences and enhances post-graduation employment opportunities by providing students with sectoral experience.
